Outstanding Garnacho garners attention... Ronaldo scores

Not the best game but also not the worst, we got the job done like professionals.

Let's start with Garnacho. He was my man of the match. Garnacho was waiting in the sidelines all season, and he seized and grabbed the opportunity with both his hands as he gave an amazing performance. The Argentinian's debut was a statement and a wake-up call to Sancho, who's been performing poor lately. Garnacho faced the Sherrif defenders head-on and not shying away from challenging his opponents, a flair that Sancho has been lacking this season. I would rather have a player who challenges his opponents no matter how many times he fails until he succeeds than a player who passes back and avoids the challenges. The 18-year-old was lively in the first-half who faded in the second half, but I hope we get more such performances.

Coming to Antony, he had a bad game. The roulette spin in the first half and the miss pass following that sums up his game. Addressing the elephant in the room, Ronaldo is back after the well deserved drop he faced last week against Chelsea for refusing to come on as a sub and leaving the game with 2 minutes remaining in the Spurs game, which was arguably our best performance in years. Ronaldo missed quite a lot of chances and I believed it's another day when he fails to score, but he came through and surpassed my expectation, like he has always done in the past. This was a much-needed goal with 5 more games to go before the World-cup. We all wish Ronaldo to act like a professional moving on and help the team as much as he can. I have indeed criticized him recently, and it might look like I have an agenda against him, but all I want is best the best for my team. The only people I'm against are the owners of the club. I will continue to support the players and back them, be it a starter or a bench player or a reserve, and criticize them when needed.

Not many talked about him after the game. The man who replaced Martinez in the second-half, Maguire. He had a really solid game and this might bring some confidence back in him, who's been sidelined to the bench for a major part of the season after the first 2 games.

Our first half saw us dominate the game, but failing to be clinical in the final-third. But Dalot got his 1st goal of the season right before the half-time as he headed home a cross by Eriksen. Finally, a set-piece goal that's not a penalty. This goal was crucial for the second half, which forced Sherrif to push for a goal, leaving us space.

The second goal was a beautiful team goal finished by Rashford, who came on as a sub. He looked really clinical today and troubled the opponent's defence as we more or less sealed the game, progressing us to the knockout stages. But Ronaldo said the game was not done yet, as he put the ball in the net from a rebound. Bruno's cross to Ronaldo as he heads straight at the keeper only for him to score the rebound.

Next comes West Ham, let's get 'em team. GGMU
